Length of Procedure: Botox® has a relatively short procedural time. It can vary depending on how many areas you are having injected.

Recovery Time: There is no recovery time. You can return to normal activities following the procedure.

Results: Normally, you will notice results within days of the procedure. Although results vary with each individual patient; overall results usually last about 4 months. Repeated treatments can yield longer lasting results.

What are some of the possible side effects?

Botox® is a very safe procedure. Some of the rare possible side effects are headache, nausea and eyelid droop.

Is the treatment painful?

Botox® treatments are seamlessly painless. The only slight discomfort will come from the needle prick to inject the Botox® into the designated area.

Prior to the Procedure:

Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication or drinking any alcoholic beverages. Also, allow adequate healing time following the procedure. For example, if you have an event or occasion coming up, it would be best to schedule your appointment a few weeks prior to it.

Following the Procedure:

Temporary swelling is normal after the procedure; however, do not rub, press or massage the injected area. By doing this, you can actually move the Botox® around if it has not completely settled.

Overview:

Restylane® and Perlane® are dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that helps maintain skin volume. Dermal fillers are used to help restore fullness to wrinkles, fine lines and folds, providing "natural" volume to various areas of your face, resulting in a fuller, more youthful, revitalized look. Both products serve the same purpose, Restylane® is not as thick as Perlane® and is more suited for fine lines and small/shallow wrinkles. Perlane® is thicker and does a better job at filling in deep lines, folds and deeper wrinkles. In many cases, both of these products are used to achieve the best results. This safe, non-surgical treatment has a short procedural time with little to no downtime. Can be accompanied by minor swelling, bruising, redness and some pain on site. Upon your consultation more will be discussed with you in detail.

Length of Procedure: Both products have relatively short procedural times. On average, the procedure time is 30 minutes. Depending on the number of areas being injected, the time may be longer.

Recovery Time: The recovery time is minimal. Most normal daily activities can be resumed immediately following the procedure.

Results: Results will appear after any swelling and redness diminishes. Results last between 6 to 12 months, depending on factors such as skin type and age.

Are there any side effects?

Some of the possible side effects are tenderness, minimal swelling and redness to the injected area. On a rare occasion slight bruising may occur. These side effects will subside within a few days following the procedure.

What is the difference between Restylane® and Perlane®?

Both products serve the same purpose which is to fill in wrinkles, fine lines, folds and creases. Restylane® is not as thick as Perlane® and is more suited for fine lines and small/shallow wrinkles. Perlane® is thicker and does a better job at filling in deep lines, folds and deeper wrinkles. In many cases, both of these products are used to achieve the best results.

Are additional treatments necessary?

As with Botox®, the results of Restylane® and Perlane® will eventually wear off. Additional treatments will be necessary in order to maintain the youthful, fuller look. When the results begin wearing off, you should follow up with our Licensed Esthetician to see when you should schedule another procedure.

Prior the Procedure:

It is very important to discuss your medical history including any and all allergies with your doctor.

Following the Procedure:

If redness and swelling occurs, you may apply cold compresses or ice packs to help reduce swelling. Also, it is best to avoid sun exposure for 48 hours following the treatment.
