Hi, I’m Dr. Y. D. Ananthan!

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto and spent most of my life in Canada. I moved to the United States for medical training and completed my Internal Medicine residency at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where I had the honor of serving as Chief Resident. Early in my career, I discovered a deep passion for addressing healthcare disparities and mentoring the next generation of physicians.

After residency, I returned to Canada working as an Internal Medicine consultant within the graduate medical education system. However, the relentless snow and endless winters finally convinced me it was time to trade my snow shovel for sunscreen and embrace the Sunshine State. I’ve since dedicated the majority of my career in Florida to serving patients at a Federally Qualified Health Center, caring for underserved and uninsured communities, while serving as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at HCA. The opportunity to serve this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

As Associate Program Director, I have the joy of watching residents grow from recent medical school graduates into confident, capable physicians. Together with the resident, we perform a thorough examination and develop a comprehensive care plan. Beyond teaching diagnoses and treatment plans, my role is to help shape them into compassionate, patient-centered doctors who truly listen and partner with those they serve.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy offering unsolicited (but excellent) home decorating advice, maintaining an impressive collection of black pants, and working out just enough to keep my love of ramen and tres leches cake in reasonable balance.
