Dr. Thea Tani graduated with her clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of North Florida in 2012 with a special interest in pelvic health. Her final rotation during her doctorate education led to her first job at Brooks Rehabilitation, San Pablo Clinic in Jacksonville, where she was mentored in Women’s Health. It was there, that she cultivated a passion for pelvic health, largely due to the quick and positive changes she saw in her patients and the peace that she could give to them just by educating them on their condition and being able to discuss such “taboo” issues.
Dr. Tani has practiced in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In acute care, she primarily treated same day orthopedic and abdominal surgeries, vestibular and balance disorders as well as women’s health on the mother/baby unit. In outpatient, along with treating general physical therapy diagnoses, her focus and passion has been treating pelvic health disorders in both males and females and empowering her patients through knowledge and education about their diagnosis.
Common pelvic and orthopedica health disorders Dr. Tani treats include incontinence, constipation, pelvic pain disorders (painful bladder syndrome or intersticial cystitis, dyspareunia, vaginismus, chronic pelvic pain), urinary frequency, abdominal wall dysfunction, hernia repairs, inguinal or groin pain, low back pain in pregnancy or postpartum, osteoporosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and female athlete triad.
